When most people hear the words "hay dryer" they think rain. They think mud.

They think a wet season that never ends and hay that won't cure.

That is a fair assumption. But it is not the whole story.

We have an AG Maximizer running in the Imperial Valley of California. If you know the Imperial Valley you know it is one of the driest places in North America. Not exactly the first place you would expect to find a hay dryer.

The original reason that producer purchased the dryer had nothing to do with rain. It was about time. All hay goes through a natural sweat after baling — a process that can take several weeks to complete before the hay is safe to store and ship. That producer was watching inventory pile up, waiting weeks for the sweat to finish, and occupying a large quantity of storage space in the process.
